5-County Regional Transportation Study Presentations Now Available

Phase 2 of the 5-County Regional Transportation Study began earlier this year, and the study partners are now offering presentations to interested organizations and agencies to outline the results of the first phase and explain what to expect in the second phase.

Phase 1 of the study began in September 2008 and its purpose was to assess the multi-modal needs for the area.  The final report for Phase 1 of the study can be found on the study website located here: Transportation Study

Phase 2 of the study will involve prioritizing the needs identified in Phase 1 and developing strategies to address them.  A Stakeholder Advisory Panel will develop criteria to evaluate each of the corridors and subsequently recommend priority corridors and strategies to address them.  A Corridor Strategies Working Group will apply the criteria to the corridors and assist in developing the strategies.  At the conclusion of this phase, which is expected be completed in the first quarter of 2012, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) along with the study partners will have identified priority corridors and established a toolbox with funding alternatives.

Presentations can be scheduled by emailing Patty Gentrup of Shockey Consulting at patty@shockeyconsulting.com.   Or for more information, please contact Kimberly Qualls, KDOT Northeast District Public Affairs Manager at (785) 640-9340 or toll-free in Kansas at 1-877-550-5368.
