UG Orders New Transit Buses

The Unified Government’s Transit Department ordered seven new transit buses for the fleet, with each bus able to hold up to twenty passengers.

“The new buses will significantly enhance the quality of our transit fleet,” Emerick Cross, UG Transit Director said. “They will improve our customers riding experience and also offer the green component feature of bicycle racks on the front fo the bus as well.”

All of the buses are wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant.  The buses were purchased with a federal earmark, and KDOT toll revenue credits were used for the 20 percent match money required. The Transit Department should be receiving the buses sometime around November 1, 2011.
