Wyandotte County Fair Kicks Off

The fair will be held July 26 - July 30, 2011 at its new permanent location, 13700 Polfer Road in KCK. It will include 4-H livestock and exhibits, petting zoo, carnival, Motorcross, Demolition Derby, Mud Run and Free Stage entertainment.

The Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening Ceremonies will be held Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 6:00 PM under the Free Stage tent. Local elected officials have been invited to join fair supporters in cutting the ribbon at the fair’s new home. Willie the Wildcat will be in attendance along with other area mascots. Veterans and those with a Military ID will enjoy free parking on Tuesday night.

The Fair schedule is Tuesday - Friday, July 26 - 29, 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., and Saturday, July 30, Noon - 10 p.m. Fair admission is free. Parking is $5.00 / car. Carnival hours are Tuesday - Thursday, 5:00 - 10:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 5:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. Scheduled Arena Events are Motorcross on Thursday, Demolition Derby on Friday and a Mud Run on Saturday. Times and prices vary per arena event. The highly anticipated livestock auction will be held Friday, July 29, with the Buyers Dinner at 6:00 p.m. and the auction beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Wyandotte County Fair has been in existence since 1863. The 2011 fair is the inaugural year for the new location in western Wyandotte County. The fair has always been a fixture in Wyandotte County and a showcase for 4-H and open class projects. This tradition will continue at the fairs new home. The fairgrounds are a work in progress. This year the grounds are not complete, but you are encouraged to come out and see the vision for the future.
