Stay Cool and Safe

The weather is dangerously hot. Wyandotte County has a number of cooling centers and other places to beat the heat and stay safe.

The KCK Public Libraries are open and available as cooling Centers during the hours listed below. People will be asked to use library resources while there and sleeping is not allowed. It is a great place to stay cool and have plenty to read.

625 Minnesota Avenue

Hours: 8:30 AM until 8:30 PM, Monday through Thursday

8:30 AM until 5:00 PM, Friday and Saturday

Argentine Branch

2800 Metropolitan (not handicap accessible)

The Salvation Army has an open Cooling Center:  6723 State Avenue

Area YMCA facilities are also available from 1pm to 4pm daily for use as cooling centers.
