I hate to see bureaucratic disasters like this. Is there anything we can do out here in the Internet?

Glad you asked. Unfortunately I don’t really know the best way to act on it. The UG (Unified Government of KCK/ Wyandotte County) is doing everything they can to retain the EPA in it’s current location, there’s a petition you could add your name to at this link, you could also Contact the EPA and GSA to let them know what you think about their actions and tell them both locally and in Washington, D.C. to implement the “Recommendations  for Sustainable Siting of Federal Facilities”.
